Indian-origin dad accidently reverses over 18-month-old daughter in Sydney, toddler dies

NEW DELHI: An Indian-origin toddler died after her father accidentally reversed over her while leaving for the supermarket in his SUV. The event occurred on Friday evening at the family’s home on Edna Ave in Toongabbie, Sydney, the Daily Mail reported.
Unaware that his daughter had followed him to the car, Joseph Reddy Salibindla was on his way to get groceries when he drove over his 18-month-old daughter while reversing his Audi SUV.
When the 41-year-old father got out of the car, he noticed her covered in blood. Sarvanthi Thirumalareddy, the toddler’s mother, and her two siblings, who were inside the house at the time, raced outdoors.
Despite urgent medical treatment, the girl was pronounced dead at the site. The toddler’s name was Rishwika Salibindla.
The father underwent obligatory testing at Westmead Hospital before being taken to Parramatta Police Station for questioning. He cooperated with officers throughout the night, but no charges have been filed so far.
Describing the loss of his niece as a “terrible accident,” Rishwika’s uncle told the Daily Telegraph, “It is just heartbreaking.”
“We can’t believe what has happened,” he added.

The deceased’s family friend has set up a GoFundMe to raise funds for the toddler’s memorial.
